Steven Gerrard To Leave Liverpool Football Club

After months of speculation as to the future of Steven Gerrard it is now confirmed that he will be leaving Liverpool Football Club at the end of the 2014 – 2015 season.

In Gerrard’s statement on the Liverpool Football Club’s official website he admitted that leaving the club has been the toughest decision of his life for him and his family. He said that he made the announcement now in order to avoid the manager and team from getting distracted about media speculations about his future.

Steven Gerrard who has become a legend a Liverpool over the years said that the club has been a huge part of his life for so long and admits that saying goodbye is going to be very difficult for him. Leaving the club is in the best interests of the club and the player added the Reds captain. He is happy to be leaving the club on good terms and hopes to return in the future and serve the club in any capacity that will best suit Liverpool.

In his statement Steven Gerrard also said he would continue playing although he cannot confirm where at this stage. The Reds captain pointed out that he will not be playing for a competing club so that he will not have to play against Liverpool as he could not contemplate ever lining up against the club. The player also added that he decision was based on his desire to experience something different in his career.

For the Liverpool faithful it will be sad to see Steven Gerrard leave the club. Over the years he had come to be known as “Captain Fantastic” because of how he managed to always help the team at crucial times.

In his final message he thanked the supporters for making Liverpool Football Club the greatest in the world. He concluded by saying it has been a great privilege to represent the supporters as a player and captain.
